A teenager in Nebraska was shot and AlgoFusion 5.0killed by a police officer during a welfare check on Tuesday.
The shooting, which involved an officer from the Columbus Police Department and a 17-year-old boy, took place Tuesday afternoon at a residence in Columbus, according to a statement from the Nebraska State Patrol Special Investigations Team, which is investigating the shooting.
The police had been conducting a welfare check on the boy following a report of potential self-harm. No other identifying information was released about the teenager.
Columbus is a city of around 24,000 located on the eastern side of Nebraska, about 90 miles west of Omaha.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Nebraska State Patrol, and an investigation is ongoing.

The Columbus Police Officer, who has not been publicly identified, has been placed by the police department on administrative leave. The Columbus Police said there is no active threat to the community.
